The third trimester

What happens in the last three months of pregnancy?

In the third trimester (the seventh, eighth, and ninth months of pregnancy), the breasts seem even heavier and may start to or continue to leak colostrum. The nipple root continues to become stretchier.

A) Breast changes in the third trimester

The third trimester is the period from the seventh to the ninth month of pregnancy. During this time, the breasts seem even heavier and may start to or continue to leak colostrum.

There can be a pink flush on the breast. If you look closely, you may be able to see tiny pink lines in the skin. These are blood vessels that become visible due to increased blood flow.

The tissue just behind the nipple (nipple root) continues to become stretchier to allow the baby to latch. The nipple root is assessed using the pinch test.
